Head of Business Development Structured Solutions, Hong Kong & Taiwan

This role requires a seasoned actuary to drive business growth and provide actuarial expertise as Head of Business Development Structured Solutions, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The successful candidate will be based in Hong Kong and report to the General Manager, Life & Health, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The key areas of responsibility include:

  • Client Engagement and Strategy: Engage with clients, develop strategic plans to drive business growth, and position Munich Re as a reinsurer offering innovative solutions in the market.
  • Market Analysis and Solutions: Analyze market trends, provide market updates to regional teams, participate in structured solutions development, and drive sales by leading client-related initiatives, initiating engagements, and negotiating contract terms within specified timelines.
  • Sales Process Management: Own client tasks, initiate engagements, and negotiate contract terms to secure profitable deals within defined timelines.
  • Team Collaboration and Support: Contribute to the development of the structured solutions strategy, offer development opportunities, and provide regular feedback to support team growth and attainment of objectives.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, marketing, or insurance, or equivalent industry education, with extensive experience.
  • Qualified actuary (FSA, FIA, or equivalent) with over 10 years in insurance or reinsurance, specializing in client interactions and business development.
  • Proficient in accounting, finance, underwriting, and actuarial concepts, with a strong understanding of Life & Health insurance and reinsurance in the Hong Kong market, including HK RBC and IFRS 17.
  • Extensive background in client management, business development, and problem-solving, emphasizing creativity and critical thinking.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on relationship management, presentation, and negotiation.
  • Proficient in business English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
