The pace of sustainable development within Chanel is accelerating at a significant rate in the creating & strive towards our ambition and goals. All workstreams are working in parallel to implement actions and scale up of engagement and resources across the House. In addition, on 21st of April 2021, the EU commission announced the adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) in line with the commitment made under the European Green Deal. The CSRD will amend the existing Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) and will substantially increase reporting requirements on the companies falling within its scope in its efforts to expand the sustainability information for users. The preparation of an ESG report that meets the requirements of the CSRD is a key priority.

Based in Singapore and reporting to the Senior Sustainability Manager, Retail and Circular System you will play a pivotal role in advancing the House's sustainability agenda and ensure Chanel Asia Pacific is compliant with the new CSRD disclosure requirements focusing on European Sustainability Reporting Standards E5 Resource use and Circular Economy.

Besides, as a regional project manager in circular system, you will be tasked in overseeing decarbonization, materials circularity, and waste management initiatives. You will work closely with regional and local teams to support circularity projects and contribute to the development of the APAC roadmap in alignment with our House commitment.

As a subject matter expert on wide range of sustainability & circular economy topics, this role will be responsible for rolling out Chanel circular economy practices by driving the development and management of regional, divisional and market sustainability action plan relating to circularity & waste management. 

This roll will drive solutioning, testing, and integrating of sustainability and circular practices into regional and local operations, driving the change of the culture and ways of working, through hands-on involvement with numerous stakeholders, in collaboration with regional experts.

Strategic Implementation:

Lead execution of the regional circular economy strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sustainability targets. Support the design and implementation of a progressive roadmap to implement circularity targets including designing processes, set data collection points and tracking mechanisms as well as check points to ensure reporting and audit readiness Design and develop strategic tools to enhance reputation, trust, and competitiveness.

Project Management:

Manage assigned portfolio of circular economy projects management, overseeing their successful execution from conceptualization, monitoring to completion in collaboration with local market leads. Build and disseminate progress and performance reports. Lead identification, pilot, and implementation innovative solutions to operations and processes that further progress the House sustainability ambition.

Performance Monitoring & Analysis

Establish and implement key performance indicators to monitor the effectiveness of circular economy projects aligned with CSRD requirements. Manage project performance, tracking milestone and develop tools to support regional circular initiatives. Collect, analyze, and interpret circularity-related data across functions and divisions. Provide regular clear reports, insights, dashboards, and presentations to senior management. Generate insights from large amounts of data and develop practical systems for business users. Identify and manage risks, opportunities, and innovations related to circularity issues.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Work closely with Regional/ Local reporting teams to ensure alignment on CSRD requirements. Serve as key internal specialist on sustainable retail operations and circular materials for local markets. Engage with internal Global/ Regional/ Local stakeholders to promote best practices and collaboration. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to foster relationships and promote circular economy initiatives.

Knowledge Dissemination

Act as an internal subject matter expert on circular economy practices. Help design training/ engagement sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to enhance awareness and understanding among regional and local teams. Keep abreast of the latest trends and advancements in the sustainability field through research and analysis on market trend for circularity, methods, techniques and materials, and keeping up-to-date with prevailing regulatory compliance.

External Partnerships & Collaboration:

Develop strategic collaboration & partnerships with identified partners, industry associations, experts & academia, and oversee effective community engagement with stakeholder groups.

What you can bring to the team…

Tertiary level academic qualifications in a relevant field; advanced degree or certification in sustainability is a plus 5+ years of proven experience & track record on project management, application of circular economy principles, environmental impact assessment and life cycle analysis, materials expertise, and sustainable business practices. Proven experience working in complex, matrixed organizations with interactions with global and regional stakeholders, facilitating conversations on topics involving different subject matter experts; progress discussions, derive insights and translate these to action steps. Excellent command of written and spoken English; Confident and articulate presenter Able to build strong relationships and become a proactive, trusted advisor. Proactive, resourceful, takes initiatives and comfortable working independently. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative and learning agility. Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel; other analytics/visualization tools would be a bonus. Excellent problem-solving skills with comfort working with numbers/quantitative models. Business acumen, connecting the dots to business solutions. Passion for promoting sustainable practices and contributing to a circular economy.
