Key Responsibilities

  • Lead fact-based analysis to develop relevant hypothesis for discussions and recommend strategic options for consideration by senior management in relation to entity strategy, business development, performance improvement and new business opportunities for both the bank's core banking business or adjacent business.
  • Develop strategy papers and reports to articulate strategic plan, strategic analysis and business performance to support decision making, ensure entity-wide alignment and solicit approval.
  • Be trusted advisors to working partners and conduct credible challenge on all strategy development and execution matters, through daily working relationship and participation in various committees.
  • Provide Chief-of-staff support to enable CEO and/or other C-suite members effective and efficient execution of management agenda, internal and external communications, and other issue resolution.
  • Mobilise and collaborate with businesses and functions at different levels to devise strategic initiatives, manage implementation, monitor performance and support issue resolution.
  • Lead governance process through committee meetings and other programme management tools to drive, mobilise and monitor the bank's progress of special projects development in the GBA.
  • Lead end-to-end all types of business development projects including partnership and A&D projects from screening, validation, evaluation, negotiation to execution and delivery.
  • Build, develop and manage external partners, including commercial players, industry associations, investors, academia and government agencies; assess partners' capabilities and suitability for potential collaboration on new business development; lead the negotiation of partnership deals.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members; Lead various department management and internal control responsibilities as per Group and Bank's requirements.

Requirements

  • University degree with good knowledge in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as ACCA, HKICPA, CB, CFA, CIIA, FLMI and PMI an asset.
  • Over fifteen years of business development, strategy consulting, corporate development and/or Chief-of-Staff Office experience in financial services (retail banking, wholesale banking, wealth management, insurance, asset management).
  • Excellent generalist problem-solving skills with strong conceptual, highly structured and analytical capabilities to deal with ambiguities.
  • Leadership skill with a track record in leading and mobilising cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written communication, oral presentation and interpersonal skills; Able to articulate conceptual ideas and strategic directives to a wide range of audience and in particular c-suite executives.
  • Deep knowledge of banking business models, organisation and operations; exposure to Mainland China business, transactional banking, wealth management (incl asset management and insurance), innovation (incl venture capital and incubation), Mainland relaxation policy and cross-border business, strategic partnership and M&A highly preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience working in and leading business development initiatives in the GBA and other parts of the mainland China; strong knowledge of the socio-economical contexts and development of the region; well-versed in policies and regulations.
  • Committed, self-motivated and action-oriented personality with strong ownership to drive business performance and the success of strategy development and implementation; Ability to build a trusted-advisor relationship with working partners and senior executives.
  • Well-versed in MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint; experience in modelling an asset.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes.

Compensation Package

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $200,000-$300,000, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes bonuses, stock options, medical insurance, pension scheme, and generous paid time off.
