Department: Global Markets Division

Overview

The successful candidate will be tasked with promoting Global Market offerings to our existing clientele while collaborating with various departments to attract new business opportunities. The primary clientele consists of financial institutions such as banks, central banks, securities firms, insurance companies, and hedge funds across Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan. The main product focus includes foreign exchange (FX), FX options, and interest rate products.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy and Business Development
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and market conditions, proposing tailored solutions and recommendations. This approach will vary based on client type and product:
For instance, fixed income clients may require insights on market trends and advice on capitalizing on opportunities while mitigating risks.

Identify and pursue potential new clients.

Assist in transaction structuring and collaborate with structuring teams to create innovative transaction solutions.

Generate client transactions and ensure seamless execution through the trading desk.

Develop marketing strategies aligned with market opportunities.

Stay informed about economic and financial developments that may impact marketed products.

Enhance understanding of client requirements and coordinate the Bank's services to meet their needs.

Organize and conduct client meetings and visits.

Collaborate with Relationship Managers and Senior Bankers to identify marketing opportunities.

Strive to achieve personal and team objectives while adhering to budgetary constraints.

2. Management and Reporting
- Provide daily updates to the Head of HK Flow FX & Rates sales regarding business progress and any pertinent issues.

Participate in weekly sales meetings to discuss market strategies, share insights, and receive important updates.

3. Compliance and Control
- Ensure proper classification of clients and appropriate handling of their accounts.

Verify that clients are cleared by credit, legal, compliance, and back office before engaging in trading activities.

Monitor counterparty risk effectively.

4. Risk Management
- Understand and manage risks associated with marketing initiatives and successful transaction completions.

5. Communication

Engage clients to enhance the Bank's profile and promote its offerings.

Network with industry contacts to generate business for the Global Markets Division.

Minimum Education Level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic Qualification / Specialty

Minimum Experience Level

3-5 years

Experience

3-7 years of experience in a Global Markets Division sales role, preferably in macro/bank sales within a reputable financial institution. Strong knowledge of Global Markets Division products, particularly in FX, Rates, and derivatives. Comprehensive understanding of Global Markets Division workflows and hands-on experience in trade execution. Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience in engaging with financial institution clients and understanding their behaviors. Familiarity with systems such as Bloomberg and MarkitWire.

Required Skills

Self-motivated and results-oriented. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Professional demeanor with a collaborative spirit. Ability to manage projects independently. Capable of working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in local languages such as spoken and written Mandarin or Cantonese is required; proficiency in spoken and written Japanese is a plus.
