Position Overview:

The Senior Vice President of A&R for Asia will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of music in the region. This position requires a visionary leader who can collaborate effectively with regional management and A&R teams to craft innovative strategies that align with Warner Music Group's overarching goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Regional Management Team and Managing Directors to devise comprehensive A&R strategies that resonate with Warner Music Group's vision.
  • Enhance communication and collaboration across the A&R network within Asia.
  • Establish unique networking and collaboration platforms that foster creativity among Warner Music artists.
  • Utilize our extensive global A&R network to cultivate a vibrant creative community around our artists, enabling them to produce exceptional music.
  • Assist local teams in curating repertoire and developing domestic artists, with an emphasis on global opportunities for priority signings.

Additional Duties:

  • Oversee quarterly reviews of domestic artist rosters to promote development and optimize P&L across markets.
  • Encourage collaboration within the Asia A&R network through regular meetings focused on idea exchange and opportunity identification.
  • Direct artist negotiation strategies in partnership with local Managing Directors to secure advantageous signings.
  • Support local A&R teams in identifying and nurturing emerging talent through both traditional outreach and digital discovery methods.
  • Facilitate cross-border collaborations for priority signings through various performance-related initiatives.
  • Advise global label partners on unlocking opportunities within Asian markets for key international signings.
  • Work closely with artists to refine their sound and image, providing support throughout the recording process.
  • Coordinate with Global Marketing and other teams to enhance domestic business capabilities and ensure maximum visibility for WM Asia artists.
  • Lead A&R recruitment and training efforts across Asia in collaboration with local management.
  • Organize an annual A&R conference to foster learning and collaboration among teams from diverse regions.
  • Arrange international songwriting sessions with renowned producers for top domestic artists.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • In-depth understanding of musical trends, particularly within the Asian music landscape.
  • Exceptional networking skills, with a focus on building relationships and facilitating high-quality music opportunities.
  • Strong analytical abilities, including proficiency in market research and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with artist contracts and negotiation processes.
  • Professional experience with major digital music platforms.
  • Ability to work autonomously while engaging with various departments.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in additional Asian languages is a plus.
  • A proven track record in A&R or business development within the music industry is essential.
