Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and expertise to project teams, developing and applying advanced engineering techniques, and supervising engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Standards: Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies.
  • Quality/Continuous Improvement: Apply knowledge and ensure compliance with Black & Veatch quality program, establish related processes, and promote a culture that is conducive to quality.
  • Engineering Production: Prepare complex engineering deliverables, perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection, and manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate with internal/external team members on complex projects, define project schedules for single discipline or multiple disciplines, and communicate client interests and drivers to project team members.
  • Client Focus: Determine key client interests and drivers on projects, communicate these to project team members, and develop approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work.
  • Knowledge Sharing, Innovation and Technology: Serve as a technical specialist, provide consultation and guidance to project teams, and advance knowledge management of the enterprise.
  • People Management: Oversee performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions.
  • Resource Management: Implement resource management strategy, manage engineering resources for small groups of a single discipline, and resolve resource conflicts and identify training needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program and a minimum of 11 years related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Certifications

Most positions will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country or be in active pursuit of such registration.

Typical office environment. May be subject to extreme cold, extreme heat, hazards, and other physical demands.
