About the Role:

The Merchandise Assistant, Home is a key member of the TJX Companies' sourcing team, responsible for supporting all sourcing and buying activities for home categories across our major international brands. This role will coordinate the administrative workflow from placement to shipment and assist in sourcing new vendors, visiting new and existing manufacturers/factories when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all sourcing and buying activities for assigned home categories, working closely with sourcing specialists, managers, and partners to execute.
  • Coordinate vendor site visits for assigned categories and assist in market research to identify new vendors and suppliers.
  • Assist in strategically sourcing and following program guidelines to meet established goals for assigned categories.
  • Order follow-up and administrative tasks from placement to shipment, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
  • Assist in evaluating each source to build long-term business relationships, while guiding them to meet TJX's fashion, quality, and value requirements.
  • Work closely with the team, vendors, and global partners on buying calendars, merchandise categories, and production schedules, negotiating as needed.
  • Ensure inspection programs and company compliance guidelines are followed with regard to sourcing.

Requirements:

  • University graduate with a degree in a relevant field.
  • Fluent/Native English skills, with strong Mandarin Chinese language skills; other languages or Chinese dialects a plus.
  • Understanding of sourcing for home categories in the retail market, with knowledge of manufacturing principles, materials, production processes, customs, and international logistics and trade.
  • High level of integrity, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build internal and external relationships.
  • Able to work independently, problem-solve, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Passionate about products and knowledgeable about the latest market trends.
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit.
