POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Calvin Klein in the Asia Pacific region is responsible for crafting and executing top-tier product and merchandising strategies that drive profitable and sustainable growth for the Calvin Klein brand across various channels. As a key member of the regional leadership team, this role serves as the central hub for merchandising and purchasing operations, collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to ensure product excellence, manage assortment planning, pricing strategies, and guide teams to meet all financial performance indicators.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Spearhead business expansion, enhancing both revenue and profitability through strategic initiatives and innovative approaches.
  • Oversee annual and seasonal budgets, open-to-buy (OTB) allocations, and inventory management by country.
  • Establish store capacity, ensuring that strategic purchasing and planning align with key performance indicators to achieve sales targets and enhance in-store presentation.
  • Act as the authoritative voice on competitive analysis and industry trends within the APAC region, providing timely market insights to global partners and working alongside Global Merchandising and Design teams to translate strategic insights into innovative product offerings.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with cross-functional teams (including Go-To-Market, Integrated Business Planning, Supply Chain, etc.) to coordinate product launches, seasonal marketing campaigns, and other brand initiatives.

PRODUCT STRATEGY:

  • Lead the development and execution of regional merchandising strategies that align with consumer preferences, integrating financial goals into merchandise plans to meet revenue objectives.
  • Enhance brand value through sales growth in key categories, profitability, and market-relevant product offerings.
  • Promote an entrepreneurial mindset, leveraging innovative thinking to push boundaries and advance the business.
  • Identify product range gaps and propose solutions to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Suggest new market opportunities through industry insights and strategic analysis to foster growth and competitiveness.
  • Implement effective seasonal product line strategies, driving achievement of key performance metrics (e.g., SKU productivity, assortment planning).
  • Manage the product milestone calendar, ensuring that regional product development timelines address specific APAC needs while upholding the global brand identity.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

  • Provide pricing guidelines, mark-up, mark-down, and sell-through targets in collaboration with relevant divisions to achieve financial objectives.
  • Guide team members towards achieving business and profitability goals, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as necessary.
  • Drive continuous enhancement of merchandising systems and processes to optimize business performance.

LEADERSHIP:

  • Demonstrate empathy, active listening, and respectful communication, fostering a collaborative environment across leadership and teams.
  • Build a high-performing team through coaching and development, ensuring effective succession planning for business continuity.
  • Establish individual and team performance goals, providing regular feedback and support.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Merchandising and Product Development, with at least 8 years in a leadership role at a divisional level.
  • Strong alignment with Calvin Klein's brand philosophy and values.
  • Proven track record as an innovative leader capable of elevating brand image and expanding market reach.
  • Ability to inspire innovative merchandising concepts and challenge teams to adapt to customer needs and market trends.
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and ability to educate teams on new concepts and processes.
  • Commitment to championing Diversity & Inclusion within the organization.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global market dynamics and competitive positioning in the Luxury and Apparel sectors.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of overseeing large-scale initiatives across multiple departments.
  • Solid commercial acumen with a focus on financial performance.

EDUCATION:

  • BA/BS required; MBA preferred, ideally in fashion merchandising or a related business discipline.
