M+ is a museum dedicated to collecting, exhibiting, and interpreting visual art, design and architecture, moving image, and Hong Kong visual culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Located in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon, we are one of the leading museums of modern and contemporary visual culture in the world. The museum reflects our unique time and place, building on Hong Kong’s historic balance of the local and the international to define a distinctive and innovative voice for Asia’s twenty-first century.
You will be responsible for:
- Planning and scheduling all logistics associated with the delivery of M+ collections, incoming loans and artist commissions presented in M+ exhibitions. This shall include fine art packing, local and international shipping and insurance coverage, whilst ensuring exhibition budgets and strict deadlines are met.
- Scheduling and supervising the installation and display of cultural material ensuring objects are handled, moved, packed and stored in accordance with museum best practice.
- Liaising in a professional manner with borrowers, lenders, fine art shipping agents, insurers, and other related stakeholders, ensuring a high level of risk management is applied to loaned works throughout the entire loan lifecycle.
- Creating loan and exhibition documentation such as agreements, receipts, consignments notes, object and packing lists, statistical reports and maintaining files in accordance with M+ collection management requirements.
- Arranging museum couriers such as transit, accommodation, per diems and installation schedules to meet contractual obligations and internal administration procedures.
- Entering and verifying data in the Collection Management System (TMS) to ensure loans and exhibitions are tracked and managed in accordance with museum cataloguing standards.
- Performing ad hoc duties as required.
You should:
- Possess a recognised university degree in Art History, Visual/Fine Art, Museum Studies or other relevant disciplines.
- Have 3-5 years of relevant experience in a museum or cultural organisation, preferably within an exhibition or registration function.
- Have experience in coordinating packing and transportation of cultural material with local and international logistics service providers.
- Have a high degree of computer literacy skills using collection management systems and MS Office.
- Possess strong organisation and planning skills, analytical and problem-solving skills with a result-oriented mindset.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Proficiency in Chinese is preferred.
