Reporting to the Senior Manager, Archives and Library, this position contributes to the work of the Archives and Library (A&L) team who acquire, catalogue, preserve and provide access to the M+ Collection Archives, Special Library Collections, Reference Library and Institutional Archive in the M+ Research Centre.
This is a fixed-term contract position of 2 years with possibility for renewal subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
You will be responsible for:
- providing services to researchers and visitors at the M+ Research Centre;
- coordinating access and day-to-day running of the M+ Research Centre reading room and seminar room;
- supporting project-based work related to Research Centre collections including Collection Archives, Institutional Archives, Reference Library, and Library Special Collections;
- supporting research and handling reference enquiries, including:
- Being the first point of contact for enquirers in the Research Centre, answering telephone and email enquiries;
- Preparing the public area of the research centre prior to opening and close it down at the end of the day;
- Monitoring Research Centre space and equipment;
- Monitoring use of seminar room;
- Identifying Research Centre collection materials and other sources relevant to the enquirer’s topic of research;
- Retrieving Research Centre collection materials for consultation and to provide assistance with scanning in response to requests from the public and from staff;
- Managing circulation in the Research Centre system (Alma);
- Maintaining enquiry management database;
- Collating data and inputting statistics relating to collection enquiries and access.
You should:
- possess a recognised university degree in any discipline;
- have around 2 years of working experience preferably in an archive or library setting, preferably with strong interest in arts and culture sector;
- be highly-organised, detail-oriented and able to work independently;
- be proficient in Microsoft Office software and Chinese input; and
- have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese, knowledge of other languages would be an advantage.
