General

  • Proactively engage with team members of all levels and departments; from General Managers, Heads of Departments and specialists, regularly sharing and informing of updates, changes and progress on strategy & deliverables.
  • Develop and communicate clear strategies and direction; collaborating with senior leadership teams and stakeholders, listening to feedback and taking the lead on developing or facilitating solutions.
  • Take responsibility for developing new packaging concepts, ensuring fit for purpose and consistent quality for customers.
  • Ensure effective partnership with various teams with a focus on eradicating quality and commercial issues and ensuring on time delivery.
  • Oversee adherence to NPD processes; ensuring packaging requirements and deadlines are met; escalating issues when required.
  • Drive continuous improvements to processes to improve ways of working on all packaging activities.
  • Manage team workload - regularly overseeing and managing risks.
  • Input into business strategy reviews, sourcing briefs and support for buying trips.
  • Provide technical input and recommendations on packaging related matters.
  • Implement plans to rectify issues, perform root-cause analysis, and oversee specific corrective action plans.
  • Manage forecasting and budgeting processes for the department.

Team

  • Effectively manage team performance through coaching, objective setting and performance reviews and supporting HR with recruitment.
  • Manage team members to deliver innovative/commercial packaging that is fit for purpose and of consistent quality inline with brand guidelines.
  • Ensure all team members have sufficient understanding of packaging development, processes and requirements.
  • Building team capability and future talent - Attracting and retaining talent in Asia, including managing, coaching, mentoring and developing a world class sustainability and packaging team.

Brand, Design & Artwork (50%)

  • Lead the development of new and existing own brands whilst driving brand, design, artwork custodianship within the existing own brand portfolio.
  • Lead creative design process from brief development to design concept to style guide handover.
  • Develop Agency brief in conjunction with commercial team ensuring all relevant category and customer insights are provided.
  • Ensure appropriate prioritisation of briefs through key agencies, escalating where issues are unable to be resolved, challenging creative ideas and ensuring designs provided are on brief.
  • Collaborate with WFC non-food stakeholders to support artwork rollout; ensuring overall efficiency, quality outcomes & speed to market.
  • Development of enduring relationships with a wide range of influence, driving for aligned outcomes, spanning across WFC, FoodGroup Asia and NZ, including Senior Leadership Teams, Head of Sourcing, Product and Innovation Chapters, Commercial teams, Legal and Policy as well as external and internal agencies.
  • Ensuring effective planning & prioritisation (both short and long term) to ensure key strategic projects are delivered on time and are effectively resourced.
  • Scope out future agencies in local HK market to ensure we establish a broad range of agency partners.
  • Lead in the development and delivery of style guides and guidelines, including colour management solutions.
  • Manage project/design estimates and budgets.
  • Identify and develop packaging concepts and formats to elevate Woolworths own brands.
  • Support in the development of display bins, towers and pallet displays.
  • Ensure vendor management/logistical compliance levels are maintained.

Sustainability (50%)

  • Responsible, together with the sustainability managers in Aus. for the development and implementation of sustainability strategies, roadmaps, and target achievement for Home essentials. This includes both packaging and product development in collaboration with other stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities in sustainability, develop and implement strategies to use these opportunities and develop points of excellence.
  • Understand the sustainability landscape in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, providing feedback on policies and procedures, making recommendations for improvement in order to deliver the plan and strategies.
  • Monitor progress against total sustainability objectives, manage and support corporate annual sustainability reporting requirements, assist in developing sustainable reporting tools for improvement.
  • Collect and process market data for analysis of sustainability market trends, provide guidance on the upcoming sustainability trends, and fulfillment of customer's requests.
  • Work with sourcing teams and develop strategies for collaboration with suppliers. Proactively engaging with suppliers to understand manufacturing obstacles, working towards short and long-term solutions where necessary.

  • 5-8 years experience in project management, covering areas in packaging design, development, artwork, sustainability, manufacturing and logistics.
  • At least 5 years people management experience.
  • Strong track record of project and people management.
  • Experience coaching team members to build capability and deliver results.
