Business Development Manager - Shipping/Maritime Partnerships

Business Development Manager - Shipping/Maritime Partnerships

We are looking for candidates with 5 to 15 years of sales experience within the Shipping/Maritime industry. This position involves selling Ebury's FX Products and other Payment Solutions to clients in the Shipping/Maritime sector.

The Partnerships division at Ebury specializes in institutional, financial brokers, and FinTech sales, providing white-labelled solutions for banks, asset & wealth management firms, Money Services Businesses, Software Platforms, and other industry verticals that require FX payments. We offer access to liquidity in over 130 currencies, outsourced compliance facilities, and state-of-the-art foreign exchange management software.

The Partnerships & Indirect Sales team is crucial to the growth and success of our new indirect sales business unit in Hong Kong. The team is responsible for building strong relationships with financial intermediaries and strategic partners.

You will develop a network of intermediaries from scratch through market research and cold calling, aiming to maximize revenue potential. By understanding their clients' needs and presenting appropriate solutions, you will help grow our partners' businesses while also achieving personal and monetary goals.

With the market understanding you acquire, you will become an expert in the FX world and set yourself up for a successful sales career in a global Fintech.

About You

  • Enjoy building new relationships with a client acquisition ("hunter") mindset.
  • Interested in the financial markets, ideally with a financial background.
  • Excellent communication and social skills: face to face, via telephone, and email.
  • 5+ years of sales or client-facing experience in the maritime/shipping industry .
  • Experienced in selling to clients operating in the maritime industry.
  • Structured approach to market research, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for creatively solving problems and an entrepreneurial spirit: pragmatic, autonomous, and self-driven.
  • Ability to understand and assess new opportunities based on customer and market needs, economics, technological capabilities, and competitive environment.
  • Business fluent in English and Mandarin; Cantonese is a plus.
  • Strong commercial understanding of the shipping industry with a robust network of clients from shipping/maritime companies.
