About the Role

We are seeking a skilled journalist to join our Asia breaking news team as a China Markets Correspondent. This role requires a deep understanding of financial markets and the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be the Hong Kong-based extension of our mainland China markets team and report on all aspects of the offshore China trade.
  • Look for innovative and interesting ways to tell stories about the yuan and Chinese bonds, internationalization and the digital currency, and Chinese investment flows and investors to a broad audience.
  • Ensure we are delivering fast, comprehensive and insightful coverage that goes beyond the numbers, working closely with finance and markets colleagues in the broader team.
  • Build sources at banks, brokerages and asset managers to break news and keep our readers ahead.
  • Have strong writing skills, thrive in a breaking news environment and have a fascination for processes and market dynamics.
About You

You're a fit for the role of China Markets Correspondent if your background includes:

  • Ability to cultivate a variety of cross-border sources among China-watchers, investors and businesses across the world.
  • Deep understanding of financial markets, ideally across asset classes.
  • Strong work ethic and team spirit.
  • Excellent written English and Mandarin/Cantonese (preferably).
