Product Development Specialist

Job Summary:

The Product Development Specialist will work within a fast-paced, supportive and innovative environment in a global reinsurance company, SCOR. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the internship and obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse and global environment. After initial orientation and training work, you will work on different tasks and projects with ample opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement. You will also have the opportunity to hear directly from senior management, and participate in webinars, discussion forums and networking receptions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the Product Development team in daily quote activities and new business initiatives and work with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Pricing, Underwriting & Claims, Legal, Compliance)
  • Provide analytical/technical research support & analysis along with line of business expertise to innovate new features
  • Keep abreast of market trends and regulatory updates. Research insurance products and services, including monitoring and evaluating competitors' products and services and industry best practices, build research and insights acumen while helping the product team and client managers make informed decisions about feature design and delivery
  • Draft and/or ensure appropriate review and revision of reinsurance treaties for management and client approval
  • Support internal or external product development workshops and any marketing events
  • Assist in ad-hoc projects and other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Previous work experience or internship in the insurance industry is not required but will be advantageous
  • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, time and project management skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, the desire to learn, and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to adapt to new or different changing situations, requirements or priorities
  • Effective problem-solving skills, ability to anticipate issues, seek out and analyze information collaboratively to propose solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University undergraduate or fresh graduate in Actuarial Science, Finance, Economics, or Marketing is preferred but not a must
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite office (MS Powerpoint, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Cantonese
