Head of Technology Third Party Governance

HSBC is seeking a highly skilled professional to fill the role of Head of Technology Third Party Management. This position is a pivotal part of the company's Digital Business Services, providing essential operational and technical support to our global businesses and helping improve customer service and efficiency.
Role PurposeThe successful candidate will be responsible for third party lifecycle management of approximately 2,000 vendors with an annual spend of around $4.4 billion. This will involve partnering with senior Technology management, Business and Function-aligned Operations Directors, Regional Leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to provide effective oversight and support across the Third Party Management lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Design, implement, and manage efficient and effective operational processes for third party management.
- Act as an independent challenge authority and provide direction to ensure Technology leverages Third Party capabilities in an optimal manner while protecting HSBC from unnecessary risk.
- Champion and drive sustainable uplift in resiliency and service delivery across Third Party-provided services.
- Represent Global Head of Operations and Strategy at third party related governance forums, including the Cybersecurity Vendor Management Board and Tech Third Party Cost and Commercial Board.
- Lead updates on Technology Third Party Management, including weekly Operations Director calls, Technology Risk Committee Management Meeting, and Chief Operating Office Risk Committee Management Meeting.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of senior executive leadership and management roles within the financial services industry, preferably within multinational banks. They will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to translate complex situations into a simple digestible message, and have the ability to create impactful presentations and updates for a senior audience.
The candidate will also have a strong understanding of Technology operational management requirements for banks and knowledge of the external environment, including regulatory, political, competitor, and market factors. They will have experience managing within a complex matrix environment and subject matter expertise across the Third Party Risk Management lifecycle, including Risk Assessment, Ongoing Monitoring, and Exit Management.
Additionally, the candidate will have a detailed understanding of the Third Party regulatory landscape and requirements, as well as the ability to define and shape business and functional requirements, including service level agreements, and ensure the effective implementation across Third Party Management activities.
They will also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and make data-driven decisions to drive business outcomes.
The candidate will be a key influencer of people, able to demonstrate exemplary teamwork and collaboration skills, and have the ability to gain buy-in and support to driving an end-state design through to execution.
They will also have a strong understanding of the broader Technology control landscape and resiliency processes as they apply to Third Parties, including how to integrate these into broader Third Party Management activities to drive sustainable uplift in resiliency of Third Party-provided services.
Finally, the candidate will have proven ability to drive change and optimisation throughout the relevant processes, including those not directly owned or managed within their function or team.
