Job Summary

The City University of Hong Kong is seeking a highly experienced professional to lead its Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO). The appointee will oversee the operation of the KTO, serving as a member of the Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise) management team. Key responsibilities include managing intellectual properties, promoting industrial liaison and outreach, and coordinating knowledge transfer activities to transform research into practical applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of professionals to manage intellectual properties and promote industrial liaison and outreach.
  • Promote and coordinate knowledge transfer activities to transform research into practical applications.
  • Work closely with the Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise) and its line offices to formulate and implement strategies to maximize the impact of innovation.
  • Provide support to the University's HK Tech and Academy of Innovation programs through ideation, training, technical development, funding, and connections.
  • Establish and manage a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) studio with a team of experienced technologists and engineers to assist start-ups in transforming research results into prototypes.
  • Build a strong network with internal and external collaborators to promote the KTO's core services in developing an ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.
Requirements
  • A PhD in Science/Engineering with a proven record of professional excellence in research and innovation.
  • Demonstrated track-record of leadership in technology commercialization, extensive knowledge of entrepreneurship, and exposure to start-ups in a corporate or university setting.
  • Experience in driving product development and commercialization of academic research outputs with a team of experienced technologists and world-class engineers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to network with professional bodies, governments, the education sector, local industries, and international enterprises.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
  • Passion for engaging and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs and new ventures.
Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract; fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical, and dental schemes.
