Operations Manager for Arts Organization

The Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in close partnership with the Artistic Director to ensure the artistic vision is realized effectively;
  • Oversee daily operations of the organization, including budgeting, program development, coordination, administration, and logistics;
  • Manage funding applications, program proposals, contracts, and administrative tasks related to productions and educational initiatives;
  • Coordinate rehearsals, performances, and touring schedules;
  • Ensure compliance with all obligations set forth by funding bodies and prepare necessary reports;
  • Supervise financial resources, including budget planning, expense monitoring, and financial reporting;
  • Guide interns and collaborate with team members to foster a supportive and creative work atmosphere;
  • Build and maintain relationships with dancers, choreographers, guest artists, and other stakeholders;
  • Maintain an archive of all organizational activities;
  • Organize and prepare materials for Board meetings.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role within non-profit and professional services.
  • Ability to devise creative solutions to challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Adaptable and thrives in dynamic environments.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Permanent resident status;
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher, preferably in arts administration or a related field, or 4-5 years of relevant experience in event management or marketing communications;
  • Passion for and knowledge of the performing arts;
  • Experience in bookkeeping and financial management;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in both Chinese and English; proficiency in Putonghua is a plus;
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal and presentation skills;
  • Creative, proactive, well-organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently;
  • Proficient in MS Office and Chinese word processing;
  • Flexibility to work shifts or public holidays as needed;
  • Immediate availability or short notice period is preferred.
