Position Overview

As a key member of Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of compliance and ethics within our organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Global Compliance, you will serve as the principal compliance and ethics authority in your region, tackling a variety of challenges in a dynamic, international setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Global Compliance team to formulate and execute strategies aimed at risk management.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to various business units and staff functions regarding Compliance & Ethics matters, including anti-corruption, trade sanctions, and human rights.
  • Implement Compliance & Ethics initiatives in partnership with regional and local leadership.
  • Act as a vital contributor to global partnerships with importers, retailers, and other strategic business associates.
  • Assist in evaluating and engaging reliable business partners through thorough due diligence and the establishment of monitoring processes.
  • Increase the visibility of Ethics & Compliance across relevant business sectors and foster awareness and accountability among stakeholders.
  • Report on progress, challenges, and future plans to the VP of Global Compliance and executive leadership.
  • Research and provide tools and support to ensure that UEI conducts its business in accordance with applicable regulations and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10-12 years of professional experience, with at least 7 years dedicated to developing and managing compliance and ethics programs in a multinational context.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Exemplify a high level of integrity and trust-building capabilities.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently and contribute effectively to cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to deliver practical solutions to complex challenges under pressure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex issues for various stakeholders.
  • High business acumen with the ability to operationalize compliance and ethics policies while anticipating and resolving related challenges.
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze complex datasets is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in local languages, particularly Vietnamese and/or Chinese, is preferred.
  • Experience with compliance programs such as RBA (Responsible Business Alliance) and EcoVadis is beneficial.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in compliance & ethics, business administration, or a related field.
  • A JD with an active law practice license is not mandatory but may be advantageous.
  • Professional certifications such as CCEP or similar are a plus.
