Position Overview

As a key member of Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), you will play a vital role in shaping the future of compliance and ethical practices within our organization. Reporting directly to the VP of Global Compliance, you will be the principal ethics and compliance authority in your region, engaging in a variety of challenges in a fast-paced, international setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Global Compliance team to devise and execute strategies aimed at risk management.
  • Offer guidance and support to various business units and staff functions within UEI on matters related to Compliance & Ethics, including anti-corruption, anti-competitive practices, trade sanctions, and human rights.
  • Facilitate the implementation of Compliance & Ethics initiatives in partnership with regional and local leadership.
  • Act as a significant contributor to global partnerships with importers, retailers, and other strategic allies.
  • Assist in evaluating and engaging reliable business partners through thorough due diligence and the design of monitoring processes.
  • Increase the visibility of Ethics & Compliance across relevant business units, fostering awareness and accountability among key stakeholders.
  • Report on progress, challenges, and future plans to the VP of Global Compliance and executive leadership.
  • Research and provide tools and support to ensure that UEI's operations adhere to applicable regulations and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10-12 years of professional experience, with at least 7 years focused on developing and managing compliance and ethics programs in a multinational context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Exemplify a high level of integrity and the ability to cultivate trust.
  • Team-oriented with the capability to work independently and contribute effectively to cross-functional teams.
  • Proactive and customer-focused, with a knack for delivering high-quality, practical solutions to complex challenges.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues for various stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to operationalize compliance and ethics policies while anticipating and addressing related challenges.
  • A data-driven approach with the capability to analyze intricate data sets and scenarios is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in local languages, particularly Vietnamese and/or Chinese, is preferred.
  • Experience with compliance programs such as RBA (Responsible Business Alliance) and EcoVadis is beneficial.

Education

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, preferably in compliance & ethics, business administration, communications, or a related field.
  • A JD with an active law practice license is not mandatory but may enhance this role.
  • Professional certifications such as CCEP or similar credentials are advantageous.
