About the Role

As a Senior Data Governance Manager at SMBC Group, you will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a robust Data Governance Framework that ensures the accuracy, completeness, and security of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Data Governance Strategy: Formulate and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy that aligns with SMBC Group's business objectives, including policies, guidelines, procedures, and standards to promote data quality and ensure clear accountability and ownership of data assets throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate with Stakeholders: Coordinate discussions between the Governance Planning Department and other stakeholders regarding data governance and quality requirements, and address any data-related issues or gaps.
  • Establish Data Framework: Establish and maintain a data governance framework that encompasses data classifications, data dictionaries, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality controls.
  • Manage Data Documentation: Manage and maintain all data-related documentation for master data, including data dictionaries, data definitions, and other relevant documentation.
  • Facilitate Data Tool Adoption: Facilitate and promote the usage and adoption of data governance tools, processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop Metrics and Reports: Develop metrics and reports to measure key performance indicators such as data quality, accuracy, and completeness.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Degree holder with qualifications related to data governance and management, preferably with 4-5 years of direct experience in data governance and management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of related ordinances, such as the HKMA, and trends in data policy and procedures.
  • Skills and Competencies: Multi-tasked and attention to detail, able to work independently and as a team player, with high sense of responsibility and reliability, good communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent written and spoken English and Cantonese language skills.
