About the Role

HSBC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager, Financial Institutions. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of financial institutions within a dedicated coverage team, providing comprehensive relationship management for clients headquartered or with a presence in Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute strategies to identify and grow financial institution clients in key subsectors, including asset management, insurance, and fintech.
  • Provide comprehensive relationship management for assigned clients, ensuring operations are within HSBC's risk management appetite parameters.
  • Originate new business opportunities and drive revenue growth through close collaboration with key stakeholders across business lines, risk, and products.
  • Implement and drive financial institution coverage strategies, establishing networks with key external players in the industry.
  • Deliver key product offerings and engage relevant internal stakeholders to better serve financial institution clients.
  • Assess operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economics or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring, and the impact of new technologies.
  • Manage and mitigate operational risks in day-to-day operations, including identification, assessment, mitigation, and control, loss identification, and reporting.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to handle enquiries from internal and external stakeholders and thought leadership engaging various parts of the Group.
  • Maintain HSBC's internal control standards and address audit points and/or any issues raised by regulators in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for business development with a selective pool of prioritized financial institution customers.
  • Collaborate with the China team to form a streamlined client acquisition plan targeting new-to-bank financial institution customers in Greater China.
  • Deliver assigned revenue target and implement strategy to increase market awareness.
Requirements
  • Solid experience in banking, preferably with experience in the Hong Kong and China market.
  • Well-established network and knowledge of asset management, insurance, and fintech.
  • Strong understanding of core commercial banking products and global banking and markets products and how they are evolving to support financial institution clients.
  • Strong credit assessment and analytical capabilities for financial institution lending and ancillary products.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills applicable through written, spoken, workshops, and presentation channels.
  • Team player and self-starter, able to set and manage own agenda, while ensuring alignment with stakeholder priorities.
  • The ability to be flexible and respond quickly to change will be essential.
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin.
