Position Overview

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a qualified individual to join our Staff Quarter and Student Hostel (SQSH) division within the Building Services (operation & maintenance) team.

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing both administrative and technical assistance regarding the operation and upkeep of the University's mechanical and electrical systems in SQSH. This includes, but is not limited to, the lighting and power distribution networks, emergency generators, electric vehicle chargers, photovoltaic systems, and power meters, ensuring their safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and assess the progress of maintenance contractors and service providers in executing their responsibilities on campus or at off-campus hostels;
  • Guide and evaluate the performance of maintenance contractors, identifying areas for potential enhancement;
  • Develop and draft specifications and schematics for improvement and scheduled maintenance projects;
  • Coordinate with campus users, internal departments, and service contractors regarding planned maintenance, daily operations, replacements, enhancements, and upgrades of Building Services installations to ensure high-quality outcomes for campus users;
  • Engage in hands-on work related to various electrical service installations;
  • Guarantee the provision of efficient and effective services to users;
  • Be available for overnight shifts and respond to emergency situations; and
  • Carry out any additional tasks as assigned.

Applicants should possess an associate degree, higher diploma, or higher certificate in electrical engineering, building services engineering, or related fields, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity. Proficiency in both spoken and written Chinese (including Putonghua) and English, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills, is essential. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate excellent analytical and organizational abilities, a strong sense of responsibility, and the capacity to work independently. (Contract duration: 2 years, renewable)

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, with fringe benefits including annual leave, medical, and dental coverage. A gratuity will be awarded upon successful contract completion.
