About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer to join our team at Amazon Data Services Hong Kong Limited. As a key member of our Data Center Engineering Operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of operational performance in our data centers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary business interface with our Colocation provider's technical and facility teams to address day-to-day operational requirements.
  • Supervise on-site Colocation providers and contractors to ensure all works performed comply with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  • Manage Colocation suppliers to conduct routine maintenance and respond to emergency services for critical systems.
  • Generate change management requests and incident management tickets for Data Center facilities.
  • Engage in non-office on-call responsibilities and respond promptly to emergency situations or incidents.
  • Deeply involve with Colocation providers and contractors to resolve infrastructure engineering issues and conduct root cause analysis for operational issues.
  • Establish comprehensive English documentation to business and facility operations in partnership with the Colocation provider.
  • Constantly explore and recommend improvements to enhance data center safety, security, and availability.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Data Center infrastructure inventory through related matrices and internal dashboards.
  • Take charge of the installation of racks and conduct rack space, power/cooling assessments.
  • Lead new build and expansion projects to improve operations efficiency, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases.
  • Assist in internal recruitment, including conducting interviews and assisting with onboarding.
About the Team

The Data Center Engineering Operations Team is a group committed to maintaining the critical data center infrastructure that supports Amazon Web Services. We work to ensure that the facility's Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems operate at near 100% availability while maintaining first-class customer service to the supporting teams and key stakeholders of the data centers.

Requirements
  • Holder of a diploma, an undergraduate degree, or above in any engineering-related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience with facility management, operating, and maintaining infrastructure equipment in critical facilities.
  • Strong ability to understand mechanical systems, including CRAC/CRAH, AHU, chillers, cooling towers, thermal buffer tanks, heat exchangers, plumbing systems, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, dampers, fire detection and extinguishing systems, drainage systems, building monitoring systems, and automatic control systems.
  • Proven experience in major facilities incident management.
  • Interest in the maintenance and improvement works of critical facility infrastructure in the data center.
  • Good work attitude and eagerness to learn, with deep attention to details and accuracy.
  • Energetic, adaptable, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and take initiative, while also being a collaborative team player who can work effectively with others.
  • Ability to deliver facility expansion projects on time.
  • Enjoy working in an inclusive and diverse environment.
  • Strong bi-lingual verbal and written communication skills (English and Chinese).
