HSBC Digital Business Services is a key player in the Group, providing critical operational and technical support to our global businesses and enhancing customer service and efficiency. We are seeking a high-calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Technical Officer.

Key Responsibilities

The role will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and operating computer systems on IBM z, IBM i, and Distributed Compute for HSBC Group, including subsidiaries, on a 24/7/365 basis.
  • Providing first-line support on system/application level and prompt recovery of impacted services.
  • Executing the Disaster Recovery (DR) plan and procedure during disaster situations.
  • Providing services to the IT Technical team on performing operating system maintenance and change releases.
  • Implementing security controls to maintain Data Centre access during non-office hours.
  • Contributing to service improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining the IT operations process integrity and behavioural conduct as per IT/HSBC policies.
  • Contributing to the incident triage, incident management life cycle, and escalation.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working as a computer operator on IBM z in a large global company.
  • A graduate degree in a Business or IT discipline or a proven track record of 3 years or more in a Business or IT environment.
  • Excellent English, Cantonese, or Mandarin language speaking and written skills.
  • Proven judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems.
  • Drive and self-motivation.
  • Ability to be proactive and delivery-focused to ensure individual tasks are completed on time and to the required levels of quality.
  • Ability and drive to successfully deliver multiple, wide-ranging priorities, often under stringent time pressures in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent planning, organization skills, including tracking and following up on actions.
  • Ability to make considered decisions that protect and enhance HSBC values, reputation, and business.
  • ITIL Service Management Foundation qualification is desirable.
  • Expertise in using systems management, diagnostic, and operational tools.
  • Ability to work a 24/7/365 shift pattern.
