Technical Sales and Business Development Manager for Tank and Hold Cleaning

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales & Business Development Manager – Tank and Hold Cleaning to join our global team at Wilhelmsen Ships Service.
About the RoleThis role involves developing and growing our existing sales, optimizing profit from Cargo Solutions, and hunting for new business opportunities. You will align customer needs with products, implement plans, and execute tactics for growth. Your technical expertise will assist customers in achieving maximum value, including key selling points, technical sales processes, handling complex questions, and closing deals.
You will drive profitable sales growth on current and new customers, prioritize target lists, and follow through with required activities to close deals using a best-practice technical sales approach. You will work closely with Key Account Managers to define relevant SPG integration within their Sales Activity Plans, ensuring tangible activity is owned, implemented, and recorded relating to planned opportunities.
Responsibilities- Drive profitable sales growth on current and new customers
- Prioritize target lists and follow through with required activities to close deals using a best-practice technical sales approach
- Work closely with Key Account Managers to define relevant SPG integration within their Sales Activity Plans
- Build the sales pipeline to hit targets as specified based on quality opportunities on existing accounts and new business
- Ensure opportunity progression in the sales pipeline and conversion to account sales
- Follow-up on NBI and DD opportunities in the pipeline
- Proactively utilize available sales tools to identify areas of growth for Cargo Solutions and facilitate respective actions with target customers
- Foster strong customer relationships through high-quality and frequent customer face-to-face meetings
- Seek out, develop, and maintain multilevel entry points and relationships with customer target accounts
- Collaborate closely with Customer Service to secure growth and a unified approach to customer opportunities
- Hold the highest level of technical and practical understanding of Tank and Hold Cleaning products within the sales organization and apply this competency for commercial and customer-facing purposes
- Ensure accurate and updated information is inputted in the WSS CRM system, including visit reports, opportunities, deals, etc.
- Ensure full compliance with WSS sales governance and risk management for own portfolio
- International sales experience in technical sales
- Sailing or other maritime engineering experience is preferred
- Ex-sailing deck officer or dry bulk or tanker experience will be an advantage
- Familiarity with Tank or cargo hold chemicals, or previous chemical engineering experience will be an advantage
- Results-oriented with demonstrated achievements in sales
- Experience from negotiating with customers
- Proven track record of establishing and maintaining relationships with customers
- IT literate/digital savviness with experience from working with Excel, MS Office, CRM systems, etc.
- Proven communication skills and good command of English
We offer a competitive salary of approximately $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits and career development opportunities in a dynamic and innovative environment. The location of this role is North Asia.
