Role Introduction

The role is dedicated to the Employee Relations for the Hong Kong based cabin crew and also the management of Cathay Pacific bases. He/she is also served as the first level of contact for the CX union. With a strong understanding of Cabin Crew operations and the needs of the cabin crew employee group, the job holder is responsible for cabin crew employment related matters and policies. He/she will also engage with Hong Kong Cabin Crew union on a regular basis to ensure we are in touch with issues.

As a strong communicator, he/she will strategise the industrial relations with relevant stakeholders, with the aim to ensure any new policies, initiatives, regulatory and operational requirements are effectively communicated to the respective employee representative in an efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

Employee & Industrial Relations

Liaise with different teams/departments to implement changes that related to cabin crew. Liaise with different stakeholders to ensure changes are implemented smoothly and to conduct ‘health checks’ of continued good practice. Responsible for research and background information for employee relations matters and legal cases proceedings. Keep track and understand cabin crew sentiment across all channels to identify aspects that are presenting ER/IR threats, and work closely with Cabin Crew Communications & Engagement Manager to proactively formulate resolutions and to contain potential issues from escalating Serve as first level of contact with Hong Kong union and support the management of all base unions. Support regular union meetings in Hong Kong – update record and gather data to support union engagement.

Cabin crew employment

Provide research and support to Head of Employee Relations and Communications - Inflight Service for cabin crew employment related matters, and provide insight on various employment related initiatives. Oversee and drive cabin crew related policies development to ensure they are aligned with the corporate direction at a departmental level. Work with Legal to ensure management practices are compliance, and act as the internal CoE for any employment related initiatives.

Bases

To initiate and implement productivity improvements related to work flow processes relevant to the outport bases, including the potential set up and launch of new bases. Assist with ensuring legal compliance of practices across all bases. Responsible for the liaison with bases to ensure its operation is streamlined. Ensure alignment of policies and procedures across all bases with Hong Kong practice as much as possible. Monitor and follow up on grievances cases for outport base union and keep accurate records of union grievances and solutions implemented. Assist with performance management of CX Cabin Crew bases and participate in cabin crew bases recruitment and promotion process (if required).

Other Responsibilities

Oversee and manage projects related to cabin crew, union or bases. Accountable for audit preparation for Employee Relations team. Deputise the Head of Employee Relations & Communications - Inflight Service if required. Requirements
Computer literacy e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word. Good communication and interpersonal skills with excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Good strategic agility and strong influencing skills. Rigorous analytical and problem solving skills. Driver of change and collaborative in approach. Tertiary Education or HR qualification. Cabin Crew operational environment and standards (safety, service etc.). Human Resource, inclusive of recruitment, qualifications and knowledge of relevant employment legislation. Understanding of labour related legal issues in global jurisdictions. At least 10 years relevant work experience in airline industry. Personal & Application Information
