Job Summary

We are seeking a high-caliber professional to join our department as a Strategic Development Principal. This role will provide the opportunity to work on different bank-level strategic initiatives across all businesses and functions of Hang Seng Bank Limited.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead fact-based analysis to develop relevant hypotheses for discussions and recommend strategic options for consideration by senior management in relation to entity strategy, corporate development, business performance improvement, and new business opportunities for both the bank's core banking business or adjacent business.
  • Develop strategy papers and reports to articulate strategic plans, strategic analysis, and business performance to support decision-making, ensure entity-wide alignment, and solicit approval.
  • Be trusted advisors to working partners and conduct credible challenges on all strategy development and execution matters through daily working relationships and participation in various committees.
  • Provide Chief-of-Staff support to enable CEO and/or other C-suite members' effective and efficient execution of management agendas, internal and external communications, and other issue resolution.
  • Mobilize and collaborate with businesses and functions at different levels to devise strategic initiatives, manage implementation, monitor performance, and support issue resolution.
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to join our team as a Strategic Development Principal. The ideal candidate will have over fifteen years of corporate strategy, strategy consulting, corporate development, and/or Chief-of-Staff Office experience in financial services.

Requirements
  • University degree with good knowledge in finance, economics, business administration, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as ACCA, HKICPA, CB, CFA, CIIA, FLMI, and PMI are assets.
  • Excellent generalist problem-solving skills with strong conceptual, highly structured, and analytical capabilities to deal with ambiguities.
  • Leadership skill with a track record in leading and mobilizing cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written communication, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills; able to articulate conceptual ideas and strategic directives to a wide range of audiences, particularly C-suite executives.
  • Deep knowledge of banking business models, organization, and operations; exposure to Mainland China business, transactional banking, wealth management (including asset management and insurance), innovation (including venture capital and incubation), Mainland relaxation policy, and cross-border business, strategic partnership, and M&A are highly preferred.
