Job Description for Insurance Head of Finance

At Talent Axis, we are seeking a highly skilled Insurance Head of Finance to join our team. As a key member of our financial control team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our General Insurance business.

  • Financial Control - You will be responsible for reviewing the daily finance operation and reporting of General Insurance, ensuring that all financial activities are running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Payment and Receipt Journals - You will review and verify payment and receipt journals, as well as ensure that month-end closing is completed accurately and on time.
  • Actuarial Team Support - You will prepare premium, claims, and reinsurance data for the actuarial team, business, auditor, and regulatory filing.
  • Data Reconciliation - You will handle data and reports reconciliation, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Project Involvement - You will participate in various projects, including IFRS 17 implementation and HKRBC.
  • Investment Projects - You will be responsible for handling investment projects, ensuring that all financial aspects are managed effectively.
  • Statutory Filings - You will prepare supporting documents, financial statements, and other statutory filings for external auditors and regulators.
  • Business Initiatives - You will contribute to business initiatives, systems enhancements, and finance projects.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks - You will perform ad hoc tasks and other duties assigned by the CEO.
  • Reporting - You will report directly to the CEO.

Requirements

  • Accounting Qualification - You must hold a degree in Accounting and have a professional accountancy qualification.
  • General Insurance Experience - You must have at least 5 years' experience in general insurance, with a focus on financial accounting and audit.
  • Business Experience - You must have experience in general insurance business, with a strong understanding of financial control and reporting.
  • Communication Skills - You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with good written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
  • Responsibilities - You must be responsible, self-motivated, and pro-active, with a strong sense of responsibility and a good working attitude.
  • Problem-Solving - You must be able to work under pressure and solve problems independently, with a detail-minded approach.
  • Data Analysis - You must be able to work with and analyze large amounts of data, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Chinese word processing.
