Job Description

As Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing regional health and safety performance, developing strategic initiatives to support service excellence, and serving as a subject matter expert on all-rounded health and safety matters. You will act as Country Health and Safety Coordinator, reporting to HSBC Group, and ensure compliance with all applicable local statutory requirements, international standards, and group standards.

  • Develop and drive strategic health and safety initiatives to support bank's service excellence.
  • Offer comprehensive solutions for all-rounded health and safety matters.
  • Act as country health and safety coordinator, reporting to HSBC Group.
  • Assure compliance with all applicable local statutory requirements, international standards, and group standards.
  • Lead service partners to plan, monitor, deliver, and advise on feasible approaches to protect bank's employees, customers, visitors, and general public in Hang Seng properties.
  • Manage working partners to review, respond to any health and safety incidents, investigation, and provide recommendations.
  • Work with stakeholders to promote workplace wellness for the bank from strategizing to implementation.
  • Adhere to established risk control guidelines, procedures, and measures to identify, assess, report, mitigate, and monitor risks involved in day-to-day works.
  • Liaise with business continuity incident management team to provide advice and investigation on health and safety initiatives.
  • Engage with senior management to foster and promote a robust health and safety culture.
  • Report health and safety performance in the bank's publication.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Registered Safety Officer under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations.
  • Possession of professional qualification from recognized professional institution in health and safety.
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management or equivalent.
  • 10 years working experience in sizeable corporations, contracting, or consulting firms.
  • Experience in occupational health and safety management preferred.
  • Solid knowledge and experience in ISO 14001/ISO 18001/ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system.
  • Proven experience in delivering health and safety initiatives and projects.
  • Exposure in banks or financial institutions advantageous.
  • Additional experience in areas beyond occupational health and safety a plus.
  • Good understanding of relevant regulations, policies, procedures, practices, and rules.
  • Strong self-motivation, excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent people management skills, highly independent with ability to interact with multi-cultural teams.
  • Strong sense of risk management.
