We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Lead to join our Asset Servicing Data Governance Team at Northern Trust. As a Data Governance Lead, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing data governance frameworks to ensure the accuracy, security, and compliance of our data assets.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and tools. You will work closely with the Global Head of Data Governance to identify and support data governance initiatives, establish data management best practices, and contribute to the creation of data policies and procedures.

You will also be responsible for defining and delivering data management standards, processes, and controls, as well as coordinating and implementing data quality remediation efforts. In addition, you will provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop tools and processes used to maintain a common data standard across the organization.
  • Assess, manage, and maintain strategies that reduce data redundancy and increase the consistency and confidence of data used for decision-making.
  • Define and deliver data management standards, processes, and controls, including content for the creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries.
  • Participate in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with data governance policies, including compliance assessments, monitoring, and control testing.
  • Resolve conflicting priorities among data owners, consumers, and custodians within the domain.
  • Drive efficiency and risk mitigation through balancing business value and cost, working with data owners and consumers to deliver an efficient operating model and data architecture.
  • Collaborate with partners across the organization to maintain data governance and data quality structures, ensuring we meet business needs while balancing quality, risk, and cost.
Requirements
  • Strong data governance tooling experience, preferably Collibra.
  • Knowledge of the financial services sector and understanding of how different business lines work together.
  • Strong understanding and capable of effectively communicating the role of data governance to both business and technical communities within the sphere of data domain.
  • Understand key business drivers of those functions which enter, modify, manage, and consume data within the domain.
  • Understand all aspects of defining and implementing data quality management.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Possess exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
