Strategic Data Governance Lead

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and best practices for organization-wide adoption;
- Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and IT Cyber Security teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, including personal data impact assessments, storage, and retention guidelines;
- Define key risk indicators for data risks, including developing data assessment approaches;
- Create and maintain comprehensive Data Strategy and Governance documentation for internal dissemination;
- Establish policies, controls, and processes for access management, data quality, security, and privacy;
- Design training materials and conduct workshops with stakeholders (Data Owners, Stewards, Engineers, and Data Scientists) to promote data governance awareness;
- Partner with the Data Science team to co-develop Responsible AI policies and procedures;
- Monitor and support Master Data initiatives, ensuring data quality and compliance with company standards;
- Develop metrics to measure data governance success and performance;
- Implement business rules and policies across critical data elements and document results;
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Mathematics, Finance, Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, Statistics, or related field;
- 7-8 years of experience in data stewardship, management, analytics, or related fields, with proven expertise in Data and AI Governance;
- At least 5 years of experience in data governance and strategy consultancy, implementation, and project management;
- Strong knowledge of industry-leading data quality, reference data management, and data protection practices;
- Demonstrated consulting skills, change management concepts, and communication strategies;
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP);
- Knowledge of insurance industry data analytics and AI practices;
- Extensive experience with data governance tool implementations;
Salary Range:
The estimated annual salary for this position is between $120,000 and $180,000, depending on location and experience.
