About the Role

At Swiss Re, we're committed to making the world more resilient. As a Client Underwriter, you'll play a key role in managing retention and growth of existing business, as well as addressing customer issues. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing Swiss Re's business and relationships with assigned clients through marketing, underwriting, administration, claims handling, and technical and financial accounting.
  • Growing and maintaining good relationships and services with assigned clients and markets.
  • Closely monitoring market developments.
  • Supporting Senior Client Underwriters in managing cross-functional teams to deliver SR solutions.
  • Underwriting selected treaties according to risk quality, risk appetite, and group guidelines.
Accountabilities:

Key outcomes include:

  • Executing agreed marketing objectives, strategies, and business plans to achieve premium and profitability targets.
  • Raising, maintaining, and enhancing the leading profile of Swiss Re within allocated markets.

To underwrite in compliance with guidelines and best practice, within allocated underwriting authorities:

  • Maintaining sufficient knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance industry, legal and economic environment, and allocated markets.
  • Maintaining awareness of broad trends in key product areas and Swiss Re initiatives.
  • Maintaining technical expertise to ensure clients respect and use Swiss Re expertise and underwriting decisions.
  • Maintaining financial and analytical capabilities.
External Client Service

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing, maintaining contacts, and driving the ongoing development of relationships with clients and brokers.
  • Preparing materials and presentations for discussions with clients and brokers to develop and implement reinsurance solutions.
  • Tracking and communicating industry/sector/environment developments to raise topics for discussion with clients and brokers.
  • Coordinating and scheduling regular catch-ups with cross-functional teams to ensure Swiss Re delivers value to clients.
About the Team

The strategic goal of the team is to develop, underwrite, and sell profitable new and existing business opportunities across Non-Life businesses, providing long-term sustainable growth and profit for the company.

About You

We're looking for candidates with:

  • 5+ years of experience in the P&C insurance and/or reinsurance industry.
  • An outgoing and commercially-minded personality.
  • Motivation and drive to develop and execute business opportunities for Swiss Re.
  • Good business judgement.
  • Relevant professional background, qualifications, or university business degree/Actuarial training.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Language skills: English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
