Job Summary

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead its Counseling and Wellness Center. As a key member of the university community, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to a team of professionals, developing and implementing comprehensive wellness programs, and ensuring the provision of high-quality counseling services to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to a team of professionals in the Counseling and Wellness Center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality counseling services to students.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive wellness programs to promote the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of students.
  • Collaborate with university stakeholders to identify and address student needs, and develop strategies to enhance student engagement and retention.
  • Manage and coordinate the provision of counseling services, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referral services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and stakeholders to enhance the university's reputation and promote its mission.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably in psychology, counseling, or social work, and at least 7 years of relevant post-qualification work experience in the area of youth development. Holders of a higher degree with at least 5 years' relevant work experience will also be considered. Registration/eligibility for registration in relevant professional bodies will be an advantage.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English is required. Preference will be given to those with demonstrated ability to work with students at tertiary educational level, and those who have enthusiasm for enhancing the educational goals for university students.
