Position Overview

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational atmosphere for all students, ensuring equitable access to both academic and extracurricular activities.

The Special Educational Needs Support Team, operating under the Dean of Students' Office, provides a comprehensive range of services and resources aimed at assisting students with special educational needs (SEN). The team's mission is to ensure that these students have equal opportunities to fully engage in their university experience while promoting a culture of inclusivity on campus.

In collaboration with the Head of Counseling and Wellness, the successful candidate will be instrumental in the following areas:

  1. Enhancing accessibility to educational resources for SEN students;
  2. Increasing awareness and building capacity within the university community to better support SEN students;
  3. Managing initiatives that facilitate the integration of SEN students into campus life.

The ideal candidate will work closely with various internal departments, offices, and student organizations, as well as external partners such as the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to advocate for equal opportunities and provide proactive assistance to SEN students.

Flexibility in working hours may be required.

Applicants should possess a master's degree in special education, psychology, psychological counseling, social work, or a related discipline.

For the Lead Manager position, candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience, ideally with supervisory roles, while applicants for the Manager position should have at least 7 years of pertinent experience.

The successful candidate must demonstrate proficiency in Cantonese, Putonghua, and English, with strong communication and interpersonal skills being essential.

Preference will be given to individuals with a proven track record of working with tertiary-level students and a genuine passion for advancing the educational objectives of the Counseling and Wellness Center.

Contract Duration: 2 years

Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, including benefits such as annual leave, medical coverage, and dental benefits. A gratuity will be awarded upon successful completion of the contract.
