Position Overview:

The Swire Archives Department is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Archivist. The mission of the Swire Archives is to deliver archival services and engage stakeholders within the Swire group across Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, and Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive collection strategy to improve the diversity and completeness of archival collections for Swire companies.
  • Oversee the archival management program, which includes documentation, preservation, access, and retrieval of both physical and digital archives.
  • Create and implement archives management protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Manage and enhance the Swire Archives Catalogue to ensure effective access to archival materials.
  • Lead projects aimed at improving the accessibility, utilization, and preservation of archival collections.
  • Collaborate with operating companies to promote the use of archives through joint projects.
  • Respond to inquiries, conduct research, and provide expert guidance on archival collections and company heritage to stakeholders.
  • Assist in outreach and communication initiatives, including recommending exhibits, producing communication materials, and co-hosting informational tours.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a postgraduate qualification in archives and records management or a related field.
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in archives or records management, with a preference for experience in a business archives setting.
  • Strong knowledge of international archival cataloguing and descriptive standards.
  • Expertise in the management and preservation of digital archives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken Chinese and English; proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage.
