Role Overview

The APAC Commercial Director will provide commercial and legal leadership to partner with regional and local office management to achieve business goals, manage risk, and maximize opportunities. This role can be based anywhere in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, or Australia, with a focus on regional business development and commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Negotiation and Management

  • Lead major regional client negotiations and provide support for offices on major local negotiations.
  • Commercial lead for regional RFP submissions for new and existing clients.
  • Negotiate major regional client contracts and provide ad hoc contract review and advice in conjunction with in-house and external legal support.

Business Development and Strategy

  • Develop pricing methodology and share best practice related to options pricing and value pricing.
  • Lead the pricing strategy for the region with a focus on maximizing profitability and ensuring topline growth.
  • Partner with CEOs and other regional leaders on business development initiatives, pitches, and client innovation or expansion projects.

Commercial Operations and Support

  • Provide ongoing commercial advice and support to local CEOs, CFOs, and management boards.
  • Liaise closely with the global commercial team to ensure consistent and coordinated approaches.
  • Support regional and local leadership by consulting on client operational issues and deliver innovative strategies for managing growth.

Requirements

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to negotiate complex contracts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and communicate at all levels of the company.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of a project-based professional service firm, with a PR agency network background a plus.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree.
  • High level Excel skills, including macros, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
  • Knowledge of financial and other business systems, with SAP and Maconomy a plus.

Language and Culture

  • Excellent standard of English, with Chinese knowledge a plus.
  • Awareness of cultural and political sensitivities.

International Experience

  • International work experience a plus.
