- Growth Strategy: Identifying and executing a prioritized set of growth initiatives to help clients realize their growth objectives.
- Operational Strategy & Cost Management: Evaluating strategic decisions and aligning operational models with business strategies and financial goals.
- Digital Strategy: Exploring new opportunities presented by emerging technologies and assessing readiness for adaptation.
- ESG Strategy: Assisting organizations in establishing and achieving ESG objectives, embedding these principles into their core operations for sustained competitive advantage.
- Enterprise-Wide Transformation: Providing a comprehensive framework for long-term strategic planning, capital allocation, portfolio assessments, scenario planning, and corporate redesigns.
KPMG is expanding its prominent Financial Services Advisory Practice and is in search of a dedicated and experienced Senior Consultant with a background in wholesale banking projects, including corporate banking, capital markets, and transaction banking. We engage with leading corporate banks and their divisions on pivotal topics spanning from strategy to results, including operations, regulatory compliance, and technology.
We seek exceptional individuals passionate about identifying and developing solutions for clients. Ideal candidates will possess strong backgrounds in consulting and wholesale banking. Our team comprises talented individuals who value collaboration and enjoyment both professionally and personally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project workstreams with minimal oversight, supporting banks in transformation initiatives, including project management and process design.
- Assist in the creation of client presentations, including material development and review, under the guidance of senior team members.
- Formulate hypotheses and drive the storyboarding process.
- Deliver client-ready outputs that require minimal review.
- Analyze data and analytics, including basic financial modeling, to support implementation efforts.
- Develop solutions for complex challenges and provide constructive feedback to senior colleagues and clients.
- Engage effectively with clients during projects and represent KPMG as an ambassador.
- Build and maintain relationships with junior clients beyond project engagements.
- Exhibit strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
Experience & Background
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in one of the following areas:
- Experience with a Big 4 firm focusing on banking.
- Internal project or consulting roles within a wholesale bank.
- Product management within commercial lending, transaction banking, capital markets, or investment banking.
- Credit risk experience related to commercial or corporate exposures, including syndicated loans.
- Corporate strategy, development, or M&A roles within a wholesale bank.
- Experience with top-tier strategy firms specializing in wholesale banking projects.
- A degree from a reputable institution.
- Strong skills in slide structuring and written communication.
- Demonstrated project management and workstream leadership capabilities.
- Knowledge of wholesale banking operations and regulatory compliance.
- Research skills, including market analysis and regulatory review.
- Experience in project management for digital transformation or operational projects.
- Project management certification and familiarity with Agile methodologies are advantageous.
- Analytical mindset, intellectual curiosity, structured thinking, and creativity.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ambition, and practical approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin Chinese.
