Faculty Positions in Sustainable Energy and Environment

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking to fill several faculty positions in the areas of sustainable energy and environment. We invite applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank, with the possibility of appointment at the Professor rank for candidates with outstanding academic credentials and international recognition.
Research Areas of InterestOur department is interested in research fields that include, but are not limited to:
- Environment-friendly and energy-efficient civil systems
- Sustainable energy infrastructure
- Renewable energy storage and harvesting systems
- Sustainable treatment technology for water/wastewater/solid
- Sustainable environmental technology (bio, nano, valorization, etc.)
- Sustainable environment assessment and management
Applicants must have a PhD degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related discipline, preferably holding a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering. The appointees are expected to demonstrate strong potential for effective teaching and promising research, and to complement the Department's existing strengths in advanced experimental, numerical and information technologies for the development of sustainable energy and environment.
Benefits and Terms of AppointmentThe University offers a highly competitive salary and fringe benefits, including medical and dental benefits, annual leave, and housing benefits where applicable. Initial appointment at Assistant/Associate Professor rank will normally be made on a 3-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract. Appointment at Professor rank will be on substantive basis.
