NURS 2403NED is a twelve-credit, three-term, middle-level course conducted in English. It is one of the courses offered to Bachelor of Nursing Studies (Mental Health Care) students. This course aims at equipping students with the skills and knowledge of caring for clients with various mental health disorders and clients involved in criminal proceedings.Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:Discuss the aetiology, clinical manifestations, assessment, treatment and nursing care for the following clients:clients with anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders;clients with schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders;clients with dissociative disorders and somatic symptom and related disorder;clients with mood disorders;clients with personality disorders;clients with trauma- and stress-related disorders;clients with psychological and psychiatric problems associated with the perinatal period;clients with sexual dysfunctions;clients with paraphilic disorders;clients with substance-related and addictive disorders;Describe psychiatric consultation-liaison nursing services;Apply skills and knowledge to manage clients with violence and suicidality;Discuss the concepts and services of community psychiatric nursing;Describe forensic psychiatric nursing.Major Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:Preparing a blue-print for the course;Developing learning materials to update the contents;Developing assessments (specimen, assignments, examination paper and their corresponding marking schemes) to enhance students’ learning experience;Developing protocols and scenarios for simulation;Preparing a course guide at the undergraduate level for the developed course;The development is expected to refer to a textbook for guiding students to study and providing local examples.Candidates

Candidates are expected to possess the following:Teaching experience in nursing or a health-related discipline;Good command of written English and Chinese;Preferably with experience in teaching distance learning courses and involving in the development of course materials.Terms and Conditions for Appointment
