Job Title: Linux System Administrator

At Interactive Brokers, we are seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Linux-based systems and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional operational support to end-users, resolving trouble tickets and ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Develop and implement standardized solutions across our infrastructure, driving consistency and efficiency.
  • Design and implement tools and processes for effective operational management, including change management, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Provide after-hours or weekend support for high-risk or planned downtime, ensuring seamless system upgrades and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to eliminate issues through automation and provide solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to individuals with varying technical backgrounds.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Linux System Administration or Operations.
  • Strong background in Linux administration, including core concepts and technologies.
  • Experience with storage protocols and technologies, such as NFS, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel.
  • Ability to handle pressure during outages and resolve issues systematically.
  • Experience with new technologies and willingness to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Good understanding of host and network security concepts.
  • Knowledge of standard services and protocols, including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SSH, and SNMP.
  • Understanding of current monitoring concepts and tools, such as Prometheus, Nagios, and Grafana.

  • Familiarity with AWS or another cloud provider and DevOps tools.
