Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to join our team at Interactive Brokers. As a key member of our IT operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data center systems, providing exceptional support to our users, and driving consistent, standardized solutions across our infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with end-users to understand requirements and resolve technical issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop and implement tools and processes for efficient operational management, including change management, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Schedule and provide after-hours or weekend support for high-risk or planned downtime of our data center systems.
  • Participate in the elimination of issues through automation and continuous improvement.
  • Interact with internal teams to provide solutions and resolve problems promptly and proactively.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to individuals of various technical ability.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of Linux System Administration or Operations experience.
  • Strong background in Linux administration, including core concepts and technologies.
  • Experience with storage protocols and technologies, such as NFS, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel.
  • Able to handle pressure during outages and systematically resolve issues.
  • Experience being tasked outside of training, willing to take on and learn new technologies.
  • Good understanding of host and network security concepts.
  • Understanding of standard services and protocols, including DNS, DHCP, LDAP, SSH, and SNMP.
  • Understanding of current monitoring concepts and tools, such as Prometheus, Nagios, and Grafana.
