Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Lawyer to join our team as Lead Corporate Counsel - Insurance and Regulatory Expert. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and business partner across various market functions, driving change, shaping strategies, and supporting key business initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have broad legal experience spanning multiple practice areas, including corporate transactions, M&A, contentious, regulatory, and commercial. You will have a customer-centric approach to problem-solving, excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to provide clear, solution-oriented legal advice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Advisory & Support">
  • Provide commercially sound legal advice across different business areas, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.">
  • Support strategic projects and initiatives to ensure legal and regulatory compliance, mitigate risks, and enhance operational efficiency.">
  • Review and draft contracts, including policy contracts, distribution agreements, service agreements, and marketing materials.">

  • Regulatory">
  • Support communications and engagement with regulators, including the Insurance Authority, the Securities and Futures Commission, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, and the Monetary Authority of Macao.">
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on regulatory risks and requirements, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and regulations.">

  • Manage disputes and litigation, including working with external counsel where needed.">
  • Handle and mitigate legal risks related to policyholder claims, coverage disputes, and customer complaints.">

Requirements

">
  • Law degree (LLB, JD or equivalent) and qualified to practice in Hong Kong as a solicitor or barrister.">
  • Minimum 6 years PQE, with previous in-house experience preferred.">
  • Legal experience spanning multiple practice areas, such as corporate, commercial, M&A, litigation, or regulatory advisory (insurance experience is a plus but not necessary).">
  • Previous experience in handling regulatory communications is preferred.">
  • Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to provide clear, solution-oriented legal advice.">
  • Logical thinker with a proactive and problem-solving mindset, able to navigate complexity and drive meaningful change.">
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.">
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Cantonese.">
