Job Title: Technical Superintendent

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Superintendent to join our team at Novo Recruitment Solutions Pte Ltd.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the economical upkeep of LNG ships and their machinery to ensure safe and error-free operation, adhering to relevant class and industry standards, as well as flag state administration regulations.
  • Monitor and plan the maintenance system for engines and the vessel's deck.
  • Coordinate vessel statutory and classification surveys.
  • Organize the delivery of consumables, inventories, supplies, and spares.
  • Coordinate changes, repairs, and defect corrections.
  • Ensure compliance with charterer requirements and corporate standards.
  • Support the technical department's cost monitoring and control efforts.
  • Maintain technical documentation, drawings, and catalogues from manufacturers and yards in good condition.
  • Participate in technical meetings of classification societies and shipyards.
  • Verify new construction and delivery documents and certificates.
  • Lead accident/incident investigations related to technical issues, such as equipment failure or malfunction.
  • Complete the onboard annual technical inspection and audit of the vessel on time.
  • Assist the Group Technical Manager in overseeing the technical department's operations.
  • Complete project-specific technical requirements promptly.
  • Implement technical changes for the project, obtaining approval and certifications as needed.
  • Respond to technical issues and communicate with creators if necessary.
  • Schedule and oversee technical repairs, including vessel docking if required.
  • Ensure defects impacting the charter are addressed immediately.
  • Participate in interviews and provide suggestions for promotions and new recruits.
  • Monitor vessel performance and take appropriate action.
  • Control operating costs and vessel budgets.
  • Coordinate major scheduled and unscheduled repairs, as well as dry dockings.
  • Regularly visit vessels to ensure they meet company standards and produce Vessel Condition Reports.
  • Collaborate with departments responsible for the same vessels (HSQE, crewing, operations, etc.).
Requirements:
  • Experience as a marine engineer, with at least one year of experience operating an LNG carrier with a propulsion output of 10,000 Kw or more, or experience operating a large LPG or AFramax Oil Tanker; ideally, six months of experience as a Chief Engineer.
  • Valid Engine COC.
  • Proficiency in ISM, EMS, PMS, repairs, and dry-docking.
  • Thorough technical understanding of various marine machinery.
  • Motivation for ongoing personal and interpersonal development.
  • Ability to think analytically, solve problems, manage time, manage projects, and make decisions.
  • Capacity to effectively and constructively address management of the company.
  • Interpersonal, cooperative, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with power and propulsion systems on board designated vessels; experience with XDF vessels and steam turbine plants is strongly desired.
  • Familiarity with cargo handling and containment systems on board designated vessels.
