The Division of Social Science at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology invites applications for Assistant Professor rank in Sociology. The University is an English-speaking research institution with an international faculty. The Division of Social Science is highly ranked internationally. We welcome applications from candidates with outstanding academic credentials and international recognition. The successful candidate is expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Applicants should have a PhD degree by the time of employment. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. Housing benefits will also be provided where applicable. Initial appointment at Associate/Assistant Professor rank will normally be on a three-year contract, renewable subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
Application Procedure
Applicants should send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, a sample publication, and teaching records electronically via Interfolio. Associate/Assistant Professor applicants should arrange for 3 letters of recommendation to be sent via interfolio. For tenured positions, references will be solicited only after both sides agree to proceed with the process of appointment. Review of applications will start on 18 September 2023 and the search will continue until the position is filled.
