The Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking exceptional candidates for tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor or higher. We are particularly interested in applicants with strong records in neuroscience, stem cell biology, biotechnology/synthetic biology, immunology, structural biology (Cryo-EM), and translational medicine. Candidates with research programs that complement or enhance the existing strengths of the Division are also welcome.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research program, contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education, and participate in the missions of the Division. The University offers a vibrant research environment and is ranked as one of the top universities in Asia. The medium of instruction and administration is English.
Benefits and Terms
Competitive start-up funding will be provided to new faculty members. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, including annual leave, medical and dental benefits, and housing benefits (where applicable), will be provided. Initial appointment for Assistant Professor will normally be made on a 3-year contract, renewable for another 3-year subject to mutual agreement. For appointment at the Associate Professor rank, it will be made either with substantiation or on a fixed-term contract for a period normally of three years. Gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract. Appointment for Professor will be on a substantive basis.
