Hong Kong, Central and Western District, Hong Kong SAR China Macquarie Group Full time
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Specialist to join our Corporate Affairs team in this exciting opportunity to support Macquarie Group's relations with Asian media and work closely with team members to support Macquarie's external profile and reputation more broadly.

Macquarie Group is a global financial services group operating in 34 markets with 55 years of unbroken profitability. Our Financial Management Group plays an important role building relationships with regulators, partners, communities, and shareholders – all of which play a key role in upholding Macquarie's brand.

Your Role:

You will primarily focus on proactive media pitching and positioning, reactive media, issues management, and proactively planning, positioning, developing, and executing strategic external communications. You will work towards identifying and securing external speaking opportunities while preparing Macquarie spokespeople with messages and narratives to appropriately portray the business strategy and defend the corporate reputation.

Your role will also include managing time-sensitive reputational issues as they arise, working closely with internal stakeholders, and working in partnership with marketing colleagues on key projects while taking the lead on managing and delivering relevant external communications. You will also play a role in managing our relationships with PR agencies in some of the markets that we operate in.

In addition, you will work closely with colleagues responsible for internal communications, marketing, and events planning on key Macquarie Group communications projects.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with 8+ years of experience in a media relations role with experience across external communications, media, and issues management, leadership communications, and stakeholder management. You must be comfortable working with senior leadership as a trusted advisor and able to influence when required. A strong understanding of the financial services industry or how to manage media relations in a highly regulated sector is essential.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to read and write in Chinese. A track record of operating in a global, matrixed organisation, building relationships, and working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders is also required.

About the Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a global leader in the financial services industry. As a Strategic Communications Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping Macquarie's external profile and reputation. You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals, develop your skills and expertise, and contribute to the success of our Financial Management Group.

What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you will receive a range of benefits, including hybrid and flexible working arrangements, one wellbeing leave day per year, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave, paid volunteer leave and donation matching, and access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities.

We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion. We encourage people from all backgrounds to apply for a role regardless of their identity, including gender, race, ethnicity, cultural identity, nationality, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, intersex status, marital or family status, neurodiversity, religion or belief, disabilities, or socio-economic background.
