Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer to lead our Asia Pacific region. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the full spectrum of financial reporting in compliance with Hong Kong regulations, Group reporting requirements, local Hong Kong and IFRS GAAP.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead a team in preparing or reviewing month-end closing activities in relation to Group and Regulatory reporting.
- Prepare or review reporting packs including management accounts in relation to HKIA regulatory returns, annual financial statements, and taxation related matters.
- Manage the annual audit process, handle queries or requirements from auditors & HKIA.
- Provide excellent support to VP Finance and other business functions by offering finance-related input to aid decision-making, including internal/external audits, as well as the preparation and review of all reporting requirements.
- Assist the VP of Finance in the annual planning exercise, forecasting, and analyzing for APAC region.
- Work closely with the VP of Finance to drive process enhancements and improvements to ensure the effective and efficient control of local regulatory reporting. Identify opportunities for streamlining and enhancing processes through automation.
- Owner of the balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Undertake ad-hoc projects to meet finance-related requirements. Undertake projects on an ad-hoc basis to ensure necessary finance-related requirements are met.
- Ensure the upcoming regulatory changes to quarterly and annual reporting on RBC basis can meet the new regulatory requirements.
- Support the IFRS 17 project by working closely with APAC IFRS 17 manager and providing advice on BAU processes.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to finance team members, resolving issues, fostering high-level engagement, and ensuring timely and accurate finance deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance with relevant qualifications. CPA qualification is desirable. Experience with US GAAP is preferred.
- Extensive experience in the insurance industry, preferably non-life insurance.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting rules and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent ability to work in a hands-on manner, multi-task effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent PC skills with good working knowledge of Excel (knowledge of SUN/SAP general ledger system is an advantage).
- Good communication/interpersonal skills and detail-orientated.
- Keen awareness of latest financial accounting environment and insurance regulations and be able to analyze the impact of these changes to the organization.
