Trainee in Global Markets Business Management Office

Location: Hong Kong

Type: Trainee

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading or supporting transformation, business development, optimization, and regulatory initiatives for the Global Markets Division.
  • Engage with Trading, Sales, or Engineering teams as required by the project complexity.
  • Work closely with Front office sponsors on various project types, including team organization, process implementation, and opportunity assessments to enhance the Global Markets business.
  • Maintain regular communication with Front office, support, and control functions such as operational, IT, risk, finance, compliance, and legal.

Each assignment will be conducted under strict governance, guided by senior team members, while also allowing the candidate to demonstrate autonomy.

Depending on team needs, the candidate may engage in various activities as outlined above.

Main Duties:

  • Lead, coordinate, or participate in transformation, business development, optimization, and regulatory projects for the Global Markets Division.
  • Propose solutions for transformation and business development initiatives.
  • Adhere to agreed timelines for project deliverables.
  • Identify and communicate any risks or dependencies related to project execution.

The candidate is also expected to:

  • Identify areas for improvement and report any risks encountered during assignments.
  • Provide regular management updates to facilitate prioritization of assignments.

Team Responsibilities:

The business management team focusing on Global Markets Tech Project and Process (TPP) is responsible for:

  • Steering key initiatives in Asia with appropriate governance.
  • Advising and analyzing initiatives for relevance and prioritization.
  • Monitoring project progress and deliverables according to the initial roadmap.
  • Occasionally assisting on projects managed by other business managers.

Project Management:

For each project, the candidate should be able to:

  • Quickly grasp the topic and deliver a scoping note.
  • Establish proper governance to manage the project effectively.
  • Lead workshops and track actions and deliverables from all parties involved.
  • Anticipate and resolve potential roadblocks to ensure adherence to planning and budget.
  • Document all project details to ensure knowledge transfer and audit trails.

Profile Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Project management and presentation skills with the ability to understand client needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with financial products and the Sales & Trading environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to delivering timely and pragmatic solutions.
  • Enthusiasm for learning new applications and improving processes.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.

This position is a fixed-term trainee contract with Société Générale Assurances. Candidates should be available for full-time work throughout the duration of the contract.
