Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Risk Control Specialist to join our team in Hong Kong. As a key member of our derivatives market operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and timely execution of risk-related operations in accordance with established rules, policies, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day operations and reporting: Work in a team of around 10 to cover day-to-day risk-related operations in derivatives markets, including margin calls, risk parameter reviews, and default fund reviews.
  • Senior teammate supervision: Be a senior teammate in the team to supervise junior teammates and ensure they are performing their duties effectively.
  • Reporting and analysis: Prepare regular and ad-hoc statistical and analysis reports to management and regulators, highlighting key trends and risks in the derivatives market.
  • Exception handling: Handle exceptions and contingency situations with proper escalation to the team head, ensuring that risks are mitigated and operations are maintained.
  • Workflow optimization: Review and streamline workflows, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation plans to ensure the efficient and effective execution of risk-related operations.
Night Shift Operations
  • Cover night shift operations in respect of risk control functions in derivatives markets, ensuring smooth and timely operations.
  • Key responsibilities include ensuring the timely execution of risk-related operations and being the key person to handle exceptions with other business units during AHT sessions.
New Business Initiatives or New/Enhanced Risk Policies
  • Subject matter expert: Be a subject matter expert in risk control functions to work with other teams for the implementation of new initiatives in derivatives markets.
  • Operational feasibility assessment: Assess the operational feasibility of new initiatives and enhance internal operational procedures and workflows for their implementation, including conducting user acceptance tests as appropriate.
Requirements
  • University degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
  • Relevant professional qualification, preferably FRM or CFA.
  • Sound knowledge of derivatives market operations and regulations.
  • At least 8 years' relevant experience in well-established financial institutions, with at least 3 years of people management experience.
  • Self-motivated with good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong team player, but also able to work independently and take on new challenges.
  • Proficiency in MS Access, Macros, and VBA.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua an advantage.
  • Shift duties required, including shift duty until 11 p.m. and during weekday holidays by rotation.
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered as Associates.
