Service Line Overview

Within KPMG's Consulting division, we pride ourselves on our comprehensive approach that encompasses both strategic planning and implementation. Our Hong Kong branch is recognized as the fastest-growing segment of KPMG China, characterized by a dynamic and ambitious team that consistently strives for excellence. The Technology Risk team at KPMG focuses on assisting clients in effectively managing technology-related risks and compliance challenges. We support the first, second, and third lines of defense in navigating critical technology risk issues through a strategic and tactical lens. Our professionals leverage their deep industry knowledge, IT control expertise, and technological acumen to deploy advanced methodologies and tools, ensuring a balanced approach to growth and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement daily activities for technology risk assessments, emphasizing strategic, operational, and regulatory/compliance risks.
  • Plan and execute assessment programs, internal audits, and IT control/risk evaluations in areas such as cybersecurity, IT governance, business continuity, and third-party risk management.
  • Analyze client processes and controls against industry best practices, identify gaps, and communicate findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Assist in proposal development, project scoping, financial oversight, and the review of deliverables.
  • Identify business development opportunities and collaborate with the broader team to drive growth.
  • Enhance the technology risk knowledge base and contribute to internal practice development initiatives.
  • Supervise and manage the performance of junior staff on assigned projects.
  • Foster internal networks and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across KPMG, particularly within Technology Consulting, Audit, and Advisory.
Additional Responsibilities for Associate Director:
  • Lead team development and growth initiatives in the Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area regions.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and presentations that provide valuable insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Drive business development efforts by identifying new client opportunities and building relationships with key executives.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to KPMG team members, contributing to industry publications and participating in conferences.
Experience & Background
  • A minimum of five years of experience in internal audit, IT risk, or IT compliance, either in-house or with a professional services firm, preferably in the Financial Services sector.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in leading risk-based IT audits and assessments, utilizing frameworks such as COBIT, NIST, and ITIL.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and IT risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work within tight deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is essential.
Additional Qualifications for Associate Director:
  • A minimum of eight years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
